These words of wisdom from my late father-in-law Prince Claus have been an inspiration to many working for development and equity throughout the world. They have certainly been a source of inspiration to me. As Chair of the Curatorium of the Prince Claus Chair for Development and Equity, I have had the privilege of meeting many talented and impressive individuals who have a strong, personal connection to these themes. Chief among them were the ten Prince Claus Chair holders of the first decade of the Prince Claus Chair. This chair was established in 2002 by Utrecht University and the International Institute of Social Studies, now part of Erasmus University Rotterdam. It was a tribute to Prince Claus's life-long commitment to global development and equity and to his impressive expertise in this field.
